Drone in U.S. Transportation Construction

State Departments of Transportation (DOTs) rely heavily on drones for a wide range of construction-related tasks, notably road construction such as widening, repair, and the creation of new roads to address budget and capacity constraints. These drones are also instrumental in monitoring material volume, stockpiles, bridge maintenance, and railroad expansion projects. The management of drone programs varies across states, with some centralized in aviation offices while others are managed by functional departments or individual pilots.
